The Worst First Date Story Challenge Was Easy For These People
You can always count on Jimmy Fallon for launching a relatable thread. When he asked his Twitter followers to share their worst first date experiences, the answers came flooding in. We had a hard time choosing the most cringeworthy, as it turns out terrible first dates are more relatable than you'd think.
Too Close To Home
If you ever required validation for stalking the person you're going on a date with beforehand, take this example as a cautionary tale. It's probably better to eliminate the possibility of them being related to you before you start dating.
A Good Deed With A Risk
It's actually quite wholesome that both parties had no issue helping this elderly couple. Although the situation turned out to be quite creepy, it would have been still worth going on a second date.
There Is No Escaping Bills
If you've ever had an unpaid bill of any sort, then you know very well that they will find you, and they will fine you. The universe has a funny way of working out like that (as in, never in your favor).
Love Is A Battlefield
When they said you have to fight for love, we don't think they meant it quite as literally. You shouldn't literally need to defend your whole country's population in the process.
Stage Four Clinger
And they say chivalry is dead? This guy went the extra mile and somehow found out where his date lived and tried to break in unwarranted to her place just to make sure she was okay. OK, so maybe chivalry should die.
Drew Must Be A Catch
Imagine thinking you're such an important figure that you must refer to yourself in the third person. Unless Drew was actually his more confident alter ego who only comes out on dates.
No Fear Of Commitment
There are two types of guys in the world, it turns out. There are the ones with commitment issues that make up the majority, and there are the few who are on the other side of the spectrum and looking for a wife from day one. You just truly can't win.
A Child's Heart
This takes the notion of being in tune with your inner child to a whole new level. If this is how funny he thinks nudity is at the sight of a stale statue, imagine his reaction to a real living naked body. He might have a laughing heart attack.
Humor Is Not The Answer
Although humor is often the most resorted-to method of taking the awkwardness out of a date and creating a bond, it shouldn't be depended upon.
Although it's on him for deciding to take that picture after his mom's funeral and to show it to her on their first date.
Love At First Sight
Some couples talk about how they just knew they were meant to be the second they laid eyes on each other. This seems like an absurd concept to us, but who knows? Maybe that's what this guy experienced.
A Special Shared Experience
The missing key factor here is, how old exactly is this woman? If she's a new young driver, this might be wholesome. Otherwise, the priorities could be a little concerning...
Always Come Prepared (With Snacks)
You can't be mad at the guy for having been so prepared for this date that he brought his own snacks. The real issue is how exactly did he manage to pack three chili dogs in a backpack, and how rude is it that he didn't offer to share?
A Special Guest Appearance
This seems like the kind of minor detail you should probably make your date aware of. If you want to cheat, go ahead, but at least make sure the other party consents to cheat with you or something.
A Casual Drinking Problem
Well, if there's a good time to find out whether or not they're an alcoholic and will be draining you to feed their problem, a first date is probably the most optimal. Before feelings blind you to all the other red flags.
Some Unresolved Issues
If we didn't know any better, we'd say someone's clearly not all the way over their ex. This is why you shouldn't get out there until you're actually better. No one wants to be compared to your ex.
Time Is Of The Essence
It is understandable if he was offended that she was late, especially if he's a very timely person, but at that point, maybe just express that instead of sitting through a whole movie just to shake her hand after.
You Gotta Keep Your Options Open
This is exactly where commitment issues stem from. You never know when they'll just leave for the next shiny thing that comes along. Although, usually, they ask someone else out, not fully propose, in a mall food court.
A Second Opinion Doesn't Hurt
We love us a man who is close to his mother and knows how to treat a woman, but there's a balance to it. Plus, meeting the parents is usually at least the third or fourth milestone. It is not meant to be crossed on the first date.
Interesting Dietary Choices
It's good to know that at least some of us actually leave at the first sight of a red flag. Who knows what other condiments he was going to have for dessert afterwards?!
